Daniela Eva Sweet-Coll

I'm a designer, translator, and community organizer based in Brooklyn, New York. My work moves between visual design, communications strategy, ceramics, and projects that transform public space, community, and ecology. This site is a journal of my creative work where I keep track of what I'm making and learning (finished or otherwise).

I direct communications strategy and visual design at the Law, Rights & Religion Project at Union Theological Seminary, where we're building alternative legal pathways to support religious pluralism and the fight against Christian nationalism. I design and project-manage all our public-facing work, from reports, web pages, and graphics to newsletters and social media. I also run our general operations and fundraising.

I've worked as a Spanish-English translator and interpreter for years: at the Centro Nacional de Comunicación Social (CENCOS) in Mexico City, where I translated grant applications and news articles; with the Trans Asylum Seeker Support Network (TASSN), a mutual aid group for transgender asylum seekers; and as an interpreter for custodial workers organizing with Wesleyan’s United Student Labor Action Committee (USLAC). I still periodically take on freelance translation and graphic design projects.

Outside of work, I co-founded the West Crown Garden Collective, a street gardening group in Crown Heights, and I've organized alongside my neighbors around tenant issues since 2023. You can read about both on my community work page.

I graduated from Wesleyan University, where I majored in Science in Society and minored in Integrated Design, Engineering and Applied Science. I earned honors for my senior thesis, in which I used digital drawing and lasercutting to play with textile transparency, with support from the Jamie Hulley Arts Foundation. While I was there, I also co-founded and designed Fray Magazine, the university's first fashion publication.

I work in Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, and InDesign. To get in touch, send me a note.
